Dreams Again!

Well, I would like to reawaken our discussion on dreams. (Uuuuh, I apologize for the pun, I PROMISE you it wasn't intended!) I find the subject extremely intriguing. I've never actually been able to control my dreams (Lucid dreaming), though I think it would be really fun! Here's a wiki article I found on lucid dreaming, it's long, but interesting!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucid_dream

Maybe here's something we can argue about, because it seems people are eager for a debate: Do you think dreams ever mean anything, or predict anything? Are they distortions of events our subconscious is thinking about? Can we learn anything from dreams? Can we solve problems that have been nagging at us? DISCUSS!!!

Hey, fixed your link. There is a button for that you know.

I think that dreams are 9 times out 10 a development of what is in our minds at the time.

I definitely agree, though in rare, rare, cases God can speak through dreams.

Rare rare RARE cases, or at least now days. Anybody out there disagree with me? Come on OFL, you wanted an arguement. :-)

Some of those cases sound a little occultic. (!)

I meant the ones on the wikipedia article. :-)

Yeah, some of the stuff in that article is weird. : \ But some of it's alright.

And yes, it's much rarer now. But I suppose it's similar to the "Does God still give the gift of healing or speaking in tongues" controversy. Again, I think it's rare, but existent.

Also, I know someone who is Christian, and also trustworthy, and he says that sometimes what he dreams actually happens a few days later. I don't know any specifics, but it would make sense that if you dream something, and later you are in a similar situation, that you may (consciously or subconsciously) hearken back to the actions you took in the dream, and take the same actions in real life.

like all the weird Deja-vu feelings we get could be because of dreams!

you all need to read C. S. Lewis's Dark Tower its an unfinished story but its fascinating! he puts alot of theories about time time and dreams and its deffinately worth reading!

you know the other night(i'm not kidding) i dreamt that i was at Contra and both Aaron and Evan were there! maybe that dream will come true! i have the weirdest dreams sometimes

i haven't checked out the artickle yet, but i will soon!

as far as people having dreams that turn their lives around and bring them to God, i personally know at least 4 or 5 people who have had God-sent dreams and come to know Christ as a direct result of those dreams!

Yes, I've had dreams that have come true, but usually not that quick. In fact, I remember dreaming about people and then meeting them!!! Explain that.

I've heard of it before. Why is it called "Dark Tower"? Any particular reason for this ominous title?

because the story is centered around this huge slightly creepy building called the dark tower

This lucid dreaming thing is interesting, yet a little creepy! I don't think anything like it has happened to me. I hardly even remember any of my dreams.

Monica, do I know the person you are talking about?

I think that God does still speak through dreams, though it's definitely rare. I think that God speaks through dreams and visions more often in places that have never heard the gospel. I read a missionary story about a group of missionaries who went to an isolated tribe in Africa to tell them about God. One of the chiefs told the missionaries that a few years ago he had had a dream that white men would come to tell them about the God who was greater than their other gods.

Si, remember Chad saying that?

And that reminds me Carmen, we MUST NEEDS get Eternity in their Hearts!

Yesterday I almost had a lucid dream, but I woke up right after I realized I was dreaming.
