Because Howard Shore is unique and everybody would vote for him instead, and I ALREADY KNOW that we all like him. I want to see who likes who among these three.
Old Fashioned Liberal, I can answer part of your question. James Horner is best known for the "Titanic" score, and has also done at least half a dozen other good films, like "Braveheart", "Glory", "Apollo 13", and "The Mask of Zorro" to name a few (He also did Star Trek 2+3!).
""Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky
Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne
In the Land of Mordor where Shadows lie,
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
In the Land of Mordor where Shadows lie."

But you never answered my first question. What have they composed.
And p.s. I would pick John Williams over Howard Shore.
Look them up on Wikipedia. It's gives a LONG list.
You would?!??!? Then again, I've only heard LOTR, so maybe Howard Shore isn't that great otherwise. Who knows?
